| Notes: | WHAT: Komen Houston Race for the Cure® WHEN: October 4, 2008 %u2013 Race Begins at 7:45am WHO: Over 28,000 race goers from across the country WHERE: Downtown Houston WHY: Participants come from all over the country to participate in memory of loved-ones who have succumbed to the disease, to recognize and celebrate survivors who struggle with this disease, and to become a warrior and join in the battle against this disease. The Komen Houston Race for the Cure® raises money each year to fund national research through the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program, innovative breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects for the medically under served in the seven county service area surrounding Houston. To date, the Komen Houston Affiliate has funded projects totaling over $12 million in the Greater Houston area.
